i have Rome Total War for mac on a disc, but would like to use it without the disc so i don't need to have it with me whenever i want to play it, I've heard this can be done through disk utility, but i was unable to figure it out.

If anyone could give a me some instructions on how to do this that would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

With the disc inserted, go to Disk Utility > File > New > Disk Image From Device..., then select the disc. The default setting should work ok (compressed, read-only, iirc).

Before launching the game, mount the DMG (double-click on the file).

This won't work with some applications, but it's worth a try.

Is the disc inserted? Does it mount on the Desktop?

Edit: I was a bit too fast on the draw before seeing your edit. Disregard.

ya i just had to select it in disk utility.... creating image now, hopefully it'll work, thanks

EDIT: lol ditto

didn't work, oh well, thanks

Rome uses the DVD as piracy protection just like a console so making a fake copy will not work as the game cannot tell if you own a real disk. The game now has a digital no DVD version just contact the Feral support team and you can trade in your DVD version for a digital version that works using a serial code and does not need a DVD in the drive.

Cheers,

Edwin
