My work supplied me with a nice Macbook, but restrictions ( both policy and technical ) prevent me from putting music on it. I have tried connecting my iPhone using a lightning cable and then playing the music through iTunes to the attached speakers.

However, iTunes won't play tracks stored on the phone. In iTunes I
  1. Click on the device icon
  2. Click on "On my device"
  3. Click on Music

It shows my downloaded tracks but there is no option to play the songs. Is there a way to access the songs on my iPhone from iTunes?
