How to play sound through speaker with mic plugged in

I have a little mic for my iPod touch, but when it is plugged in, the iPod thinks that headphones are plugged in so sound does not play through the speaker. (With the mic plugged in, there is no way to plug headphones in.) This makes it impossible to use skype or anything like that. Is there a way to play sound through the speaker with the mic plugged in? My iPod is jailbroken if that helps.

I have the same problem than you, I order a second item but it's the same than the first... I suppose the problem is about the longueur of the jack connector, it's seams be too short, the female connector in the ipod touch is more longueur than jack standard
