By installing it?

If the Mac version is out tomorrow (?), you buy the DVD or download it, if available and then install it. Steam should come with it.

Or do you have any particular problem?

I do not know what steam is, i have just heard the name.

What does it do ? what does it not do ?

Steam for Mac is due to be released today sometime.

Yes

So steam is supporting the game, not the developer of it am i right ?

I do not want to install rubbish software on my mac, just the game itself and it must run fast and native like in windows.

Have you read past news about steam?
Steam will be release today on Mac natively, which mean it will work like on windows.
Games will be installed using steam, it's just a client.

The developer will make the game. The developer will support the game. The game will be delivered to you and updated through steam.

Personally, steam is rubbish, I dislike the way it can decide whether I can play the games I've purchased or not. Steam error = no games for you. That said, it's the most polished and most successful content delivery system. We'll wait and see how restrictive the Mac version of steam is with regard to DRM.

Steam is native, the game will be native, it will probably not be quite as optimized as the windows one, but tbh with torchlight I wouldn't worry too much, the game seems to run great on all hardware, still while looking good too.... if only more games developers could pull off the same feat.

To put it easily, Steam is to PC games, what iTunes is to iPhone apps.

Like the iTunes store, you purchase your games through the Steam store (although, you can also purchase retail, than register on steam).

Like the iTunes store, multiple developers sell their games through Steam.

Like the iTunes store, Steam keeps all your games up to date for you.

Unlike the iTunes store, Steam must be running in order to play the game. However, there are built in community features like friends list and chat that allow people to sent you messages in any Steam game, great for scheduling a game in Left 4 Dead when your currently in Bad Company.

You can also download Steam on any computer anywhere and log in with your account to play your games. Your not limited to the amount of installs or forced to have a CD in the drive (this has been amazing for me when my hard drive crashed, didn't have to baby sit CD installs, just logged into steam and re downloaded all my games overnight).

You don't need to keep steam running ALL the time, just when you want to play games purchased through steam. Although, I've grown to love having steam running all the time simply so I can see if any my friends are currently in game so I can join them.
