So I have decided to stop at the iOS 9 beta and am waiting for the final release to be out next week. However, iOS 9.1 beta has downloaded itself to my phone and I get some message saying it will auto-install next morning between 3 to 4 am.

I have no desire to install 9.1 beta. It has been a fun ride, but I am prepared to return to using my iPhone "as is". Is there any way to delete the file from my phone? The (1) badge is also quite irritating.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the response, but if I restore, won't that mean I lose everything on my phone?

I have created a backup, but this means that any files not saved to the cloud between these few days would not be restored (like whatsapp messages or SMSes). Because if I backup my phone while it is on iOS 9.1, I will not be able to restore to my phone when it is running iOS 9?

You need to make sure you're data is saved to icloud because you are restoring your phone; I don't see any way around this as I'm in the same boat with my iPad.

Thanks again. I just realised that my whatsapp chat logs can be backed up to icloud, which I am doing now. I may lose a few SMSes in between these few days, but nothing I can't live without.

Interesting how almost all my data now resides in my cloud. Guess it really has been that convenient for me.

You should be able to delete the installed update from settings and also delete the public beta profile from settings as well so that it's not downloaded again.

Settings > General > Profiles

Delete the iOS 9 Beta Profile in there. Then get to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage and delete the software update.

I deleted the beta profile and restarted. My phone (after being on 9.0GM) then wanted to "update" to 9.0 public beta 3. I re-installed the beta profile, restarted, and re-deleted the beta profile and restarted. This seemed to fix the issue and my phone no longer wants to update to 9.1 or "update" to public beta 3.
