Hey everyone

My iMac has just got a new issue that has appeared over night. Everytime the computer is turned on now OSX asks for password to login.

On our computer we only have one user so I have only needed it to login automatically. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to log back in automatcially without it asking for a password. The auto login for the account on the computer is already checked so I am a bit stumped.

The iMac is linked to my wife's iPhone via iCloud and couple of days ago the phone was wanting to sync up and asking for 6 digit verification code and ever since then it has this issue, I have even logged out of icloud on imac to see if that resolves it and it has'nt.

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Have you disabled the auto locking feature in System preferences?
You can find them in the preferences pane called Security and anonymity.
Also if FileVault is turned on, automatic login might not work. FileVault is in the same preferences pane, but under the tab FileVault.

System Preferences->Users & Groups, then "Change Password...", enter your old password but don't enter a new password. Now you won't be asked for a password anymore.
