On iPhone, my 50 most recent email gets pushed to my phone whether it is new or marked as read. Is there a way so only new incoming email gets pushed to iPhone? thanks

If you archive your emails after you've read them then only the unread ones will get pushed. If your email provider allows this of course. This will still be accessible via the All Mail IMAP folder (again, assuming you are using an IMAP or equivalent service). Gmail does this, some exchange I believe and iCloud or MobileMe but I could be wrong on the last two. You will need to switch it from delete to archive in the account settings on the phone.

I use Gmail. And since storage is not an issue, I tend to not delete any emails. All email i have is marked as read. But in iPhone it automatically loads the last 50 emails, read or not. I want it to load only new incoming mail. thanks

If you archive your email in gmail, it will come out of your inbox, yet stay in gmail.

This is the only way you can achieve what you want done.

Also, 50 emails is a nominal amount of both storage and data use. It will only update when you get new mail or if the status of that mail changes, so you shouldn't be too worried about it.

I'm confused. Once the iPhone loads the last 50 mail messages, it only loads new messages from that point on. What's the problem?

The iPhone will load whatever's in your inbox. If you only want unread e-mails, you should probably archive stuff after you read it.
