Loving using my mute switch as a rotation lock. But now how do I quickly mute my phone without fumbling around in settings? On the iPad they add a control center switch but that doesn't appear to be the case on the iPhone.

I don't think the mute switch can be used as a rotation lock on the iPhone, just for silencing the phone. For rotation lock there's the option for that in control center on the iPhone.

It's a new feature in iOS 9.

I don't believe it is. There was that change in iOS 9 beta 1 when it was released, but that was quickly removed in subsequent betas and wasn't there in the final version of iOS 9.

Yeah it's since been removed...would be nice if when you turn this option on, the toggle on control center then automatically switches to 'Mute' and vice-versa. Should we submit a feature request?

As far as your original question, for calls at least you can mute by tapping the power button once, and ignore by tapping twice. General alerts though, you can't exactly dismiss quickly. Unless you toggle the ringer & alert settings to "Change with Buttons"

Interesting! Well I definitely still have it. I guess the setting got saved in my iCloud and has persisted until now?

Could you show us possible? I'm curious to see how you've still got that option to use the mute switch as an orientation lock. Also, which OS are you running now? And where do you see the setting to change the switch from mute/orientation? Just curious.

I think some people who changed the option when it was available in iOS 9 beta 1 could still have it set that way now but without a way to change it anymore (short of resetting all settings and/or restoring probably).

I just went looking for the setting and I can't seem to find it anymore! I guess I can't turn it off now?

Looks like you're correct. I can't find the setting anymore. I guess short of starting new, my mute switch is now forever a rotation lock switch.

Yes. We may need to send a feature request. Like moving cursor feature for iPhone 6 Plus. I really miss that feature in iOS 9 beta 2.

Ah, God tells us that iOS 9 beta 2 had such awesome features.
