I just got an iPad Pro 11-inch M4. I love it! :) I see that it has the option to not charge beyond 80% and I have that option enabled to prolong battery health. Most of the time, turning this setting on is appropriate.

However, there are times when I want the iPad to charge beyond 80% one time and then after it charges to 100%, it would revert back to the setting of charging to 80%. This idea is similar to the Charge to Optimized Limit on the Apple Ultra in which it would typically charge to about 80% but you can quickly request it to charge to full one time.

My question: is there a quick way to instruct the iPad to charge to 100% one time without having to go into the setting to turn off Charge to 80%, and then again to turn it back on after battery charges to 100%?

You might ask why do I want that. There are several scenarios where this is useful. In everyday living, charging to 80% is just fine. But say once in a while when I go on travel, the night before I’d like the iPad to charge to 100% so I can use the iPad on the go on the airplane and airport without having to baby the battery. Or, if I know I’ll be going to a cafe that day doing some prolonged work, I can quickly request the iPad to charge to full before I need to head out the door. In these scenarios, it would also be useful not to have to remember to turn off the charge to full once I’m done making that one-time request.

Is there a workaround for this? Or a shortcut of sorts that I could create, etc.?

Sadly, not that I know of. On iPhone, it’s better: when you set it to 100, it offers to return it to 80 next morning. Also there are more granular settings there, so maybe it comes to iPad with iPadOS 19?

That kind of granularity would be much appreciated for the iPad too!
