How to record sound on the iPhone? (not voice)

It's hard to Google this because I keep getting voice apps.

Are there any apps or any ways in general that anyone knows of to record that actual sound coming from the iPhone (not from the microphone)? I was thinking of somehow doing it through the head phone jack?

I don't think Apple let apps have direct access to the iPhone's sound system.

Run a wire from the headphone jack to the line in/mic jack on your computer. Use your computer to record the line in audio.
