I'm new to this site and not exactly sure if this is the right thread or even website to be posting about this but I figured there are some knowledgable people that might be able to help.

I set up a 2 year contract with Verizon Wireless and put a 20% down payment for a iPhone 6s 64gb. I failed to purchase insurance and the iPhone was stolen the next day. Whoever stole it set up their own Apple ID and is using up lots of data. I was seeing if there was a way to find out the Apple ID without suspending the account so I can use find my iPhone and have the police track it down. The person is using it and I'm getting email alerts on data usage. I really can't afford to pay for the phone and wanted to ask any suggestions on recovering the Apple ID.

How did they set up their own Apple ID? Did you have yours set up on it? Was the phone locked? Did you put it into lost mode? You can also contact your carrier and suspend the phone so that someone else wouldn't be using your account.
