What is the proper way to backup Thunderbird from a CCC backup?

For some time I have had this nagging issue of Thunderbird showing that I have (1) unread email when that isn't the case.

So today I selected all of the emails in my Inbox and dragged them into a "TEMPORARY" folder.

Something happened during this process, and now I have almost two years of e-mails missing, plus it still shows that I have (1) unread email even though my Inbox is now empty.

Maybe my Thunderbird profile was already corrupted?

I did a backup in CC last night before bed, so in theory, I can get all of my emails back except maybe for a few this morning.

Figured I'd come here and ask the experts before I screw things up even more!

Have you tried putting the emails BACK to the inbox (from the temp folder)?
Does that get things somewhat back to "where they were"?

IF it does...
My advice is to save yourself a lot of trouble and just ignore that 1 mysterious "unread" email.
Perhaps in time it will go away.

Okay, so after my OP things got really weird!

Yes, I did try moving all of my emails back to my Inbox but they wouldn't move.

Or, as I recall, some moved, but like a two year block of e-mails simply disappeared.

Then I checked my settings in Thunderbird, and realized that I had the option unchecked so that my IMAP emails remain on the email server.

So if all of my emails never left the server, then this wouldn't be an issue with Thunderbird or my profile, right?

I gave up for that day, and when I came back to my e-mail the next day, the large block of emails that I moved back from my "Temporary" folder to my "Inbox" reappeared.

I really need to migrate off of AT&T email.

All of that aside, my one unread email - which doesn't exist - is still there!

Oh, and to my original question, it seems that if you need to recover a corrupt Thunderbird profile, you simply move your profile username in the Thunderbird directly out of the Profiles folder, and copy your backup profile directly in it's place and that should restiire things to your last working backup.

I did that, but it didn't fix the issue since the issue was on AT&T's side.
