Hi,

I just moved from a 2013 MacBook Air to a 2020 MacBook Pro (running Catalina 10.15.5), and now I can't back up any of my iOS devices.

On the Air, I had made a symbolic link in the MobileSync folder to an external HDD, so I suspect that's what caused the issue.

When I go to the Application Support directory on the Pro, I can see the MobileSync directory.

$ pwd
/Users/kellymorrison/Library/Application Support
$ ls -l
--- lots of lines omitted here ---
drwx------ 3 kellymorrison staff 96 Mar 5 2015 Microsoft
drwxr-xr-x 5 kellymorrison staff 160 May 1 2016 MobileSync
drwx------ 4 kellymorrison staff 128 Apr 13 22:10 Mozilla

However, when I try to see what's in the MobileSync directory, I get errors:

$ ls -l MobileSync/
ls: : Operation not permitted
$ sudo ls -l MobileSync/
Password: <omitted>
ls: : Operation not permitted

Is there any way to reset the MobileSync directory? I've tried renaming it, deleting it... nothing works.

Is Terminal allowed full disk access? You can set it up from System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Full Disk Access and adding Terminal to the list.
