My G3 graphite 600 Mhz iMac will no longer burn CD-roms. It makes it to the very end and gives an error message (which I now don't have on hand - and I'm not digging in my trash for that sticky note
) that Apple identifies as due to the new discs running much higher burn speeds than the drive was designed for. The solution is to reduce burn speed... (Drive max is 8x, disc max is 24x). However I cannot find any possible way to adjust the speed within OS 9, using the built in burn feature. I'd guess maybe I need software that allows this sort of tweaking? Any recommendations - preferably freeware?
I'm upgrading to OS 10.3 as soon as I get the install disc set - will OS X allow this adjustment? I was looking to burn backup files to disc before I do the upgrade, but I guess I'll use jumpsticks for that now. I still want to be able to burn discs though...
Thanks a bunch
