Does anyone know how to solve the problem of removing that silly stupid arrow on the alias badge? I have had this issue since Big Slur and the instructions for Catalina 11.5 refuse to work.

Thank you so much for all the help

I consider the badge an important information, not being the icon a real file, so I never tried.
But it seems quite easy!! (well, not for automatic general behavior) :):
Just tried once, I'm on Monterey 12.1 . I made an alias of a .png file (screen capture) on my "Desktop", it showed up in desktop (with its badge). Open Info box of alias (cmd+i). I copied (cmd+c) the original file (being an image; choose to copy your preferred image). Selected (click) icon image in alias Info box, and pasted (cmd+v).
It worked for me! (And didn't know, I like the special badge)

Thanks for the tip, however this doesn't work on what I am trying to accomplish. I dislike having all the entries in my Applications folder in the Dock, so I created my own folder called programs and alias just those applications that I frequently use. The little stupid arrow badge is just downright ugly, especially if there are 20 items all with the same arrow.

Apple intentionally locking out all aspects of personalization is simply pathetic.

...Well.. you made me go to make a try. I've tested with two apps in general Applications folder: Books (came with OS) and AppCleaner (installed by me). Made alias for them. Then I just clicked on icon of original app in its info box, and copied that icon. I could paste on the info box of alias, to look exactly as original app.
(Didn't try to make a collection in a folder, though. Perhaps the pasting is lost at some point -?-)
