Hello,
How can you remove app data on my iPhone? I have an 16GB iPhone and the apps "eat" away my storage. For example Facebook app has 88 MB of app and 287 MB of documents & data.

There used to be a lot of apps on the App Store (and a couple of desktop applications too) that specialised in this. Most of the ones I tried seem to have disappeared or stopped working though. I think I heard it was something to do with a change in iOS access to the folders required for cleaning.

You can use the Battery Doctor app from the app store. It has an option to clear junk files from your device. Should help you clean your app data.

I also have a 16GB and Battery Doctor does help. I get rid of 200-300MB of stuff a day. It wont delete your FB app cache though. The FB app is terrible at everything. Amazing how they get away with so much. A delete, reboot and reinstall will help, but it builds up so quickly that its better just doing it monthly or whatever.

Generally no reboot is necessary in that process.

It would be nice if Apple provided an option to clear app caches (even though iOS does that automatically when storage is low), but I'm not sure about other apps doing it, and realistically given iOS design other third party apps aren't even supposed to be able to do it.

You have to delete the app from your phone and then download it again.
Facebook and Google news app are worst at maintaining cache. They just keep growing in size. Currently fb app on my iphone6 had 400 mb of cache. I wish there was a way in iOS or an app to free the cache memory

Deleting the app and installing it again does it. With many apps it's a firly simple thing to do. That said, an iOS and/or at least an app option for something like that would certainly be welcome.

You realize the cache is there for a reason, right? While it may be a good idea to purge it and start anew every now and then, it definitely shouldn't be an everyday thing.

PhoneClean is another solution. The only permanent, however, is to stop using these apps altogether and to access the sites through Safari instead

Best thing to do is to not use the Facebook app at all. Delete it.

It's a garbage, bloated, mess of an app, and I refuse to use it. All my Facebooking is done through Safari instead.

For security, each app is sandboxed so you can only remove data from an app from either an option in that app or by removing the app and installing it again.
