I successfully removed the black background around "swipe to unlock" and the clock. But, when I press the home button twice to bring up music controls, I get the black box again. Any ideas on how to remove it WITHOUT winterboard or springtomize? I SSH'd these changes, and would like to keep doing it that way.

I too would like to know how to do this. Also not to hijack your thread OP but just incase someone knows how to do it with winterboard or springtomize not ssh, I'd be happy to do it either way, so post anything you know guys! :)

PS. That's a really nice pic you've got there, do you mind sharing?

black boxes almost all gone

I was wanting to do this same thing, and after some poking around, I found that if you remove/rename the file "SBLockScreenControlsLCD@2x.png" in /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app, it will remove the black box. (see screenshot)

My next goal is to remove the grey line that's left, but I'm guessing that's in the SharedArtwork file somewhere, since that's where the grey line from the unlock bar was.

Careful with that that also disables the music buttons when you double press home button at lockscreen...

Would it be better to modify the name, or replace it with a transparent image? If a transparent image is needed, I hope someone can post one or point to where/how to get one.

All I did was try it and none of my music controls would work. Even though I have Activator set up for music for my volume buttons. I haven't tried a transparent at all.

I've been looking for this same thing. I'm going to try renaming that file and see what happens. Thanks!!

Edit: This didn't work. I renamed that file (and the "small" version") and there was no change to my lock screen. I tried a respring, but the black bar still shows up...

mind telling us how you ssh'd the clear clock area? winterboard taking up too much of my ram to use this feature, and is there a way to clear out the "slide to unlock" area and just leave the slider and camera?

I got mine working. I think the custom slider on Springtomize was screwing it up. I have the entire slider hidden anyway, so I turned that off and now it will hide the background like gobbldygook said. But as you said, nwmtnbiker, none of the music control buttons do anything now.

If you guys get a transparent image to work, please share it! This is the last thing I would like to do for my phone!

transparent bg image works best

Using a transparent image instead of renaming the image works better, and keeps stacked notifications from being in the music button area, as I found out after my text notifications piled up into my clock/music player. The music controls also work with a transparent bar. (Mine is attached, though I'm not sure if it's possible to download it from the post?)

This is the correct way. You need to drop this file in the com.apple.springboard in your lockscreen theme. If you just remove the file, the LS Music controls will not work anymore.

how can I remove the bottom and the top via springtomize 2?

Awesome! I got it off there and managed to get the file in place. Thanks!

So all these posts and I'm still not exactly sure how to get rid of the boxes without winterboard lol Anyone care to explain where in the file system I need to be looking for the images I need to replace/rename? I would also love I get rid of these black boxes and do not want to install winterboard on my phone to do it. I didn't think it was possible to do without winterboard.

Here are a couple posts I had. One has the transparent Barlcd and well lock and directions and the other is a link to modmyi to get rid of the lines left over... The bottom link is location, middle link is the png's and top link is to remove the left over grey lines. I guess start at the bottom lol...

So using that transparent image for the music LCD bar works? If so, could someone upload it with Dropbox or another service? I can't download it on the phone when they're attached through the website.

Thanks in advance if someone can do it =) already managed to get the other boxes removed. Thanks to the previous poster for the links explaining how.

Thanks nwmtnbiker for the links.

Is there a transparent file for barbottomlock@2x~iphone.png....or does that one just get re-named and no other file is needed?

there's nothing there mate

The way I found it was start just below the "Attachment" box and drag up to highlight everything that is there. There will be a thin line on the left side of the box. Right click on that and you can save the image. It even has the right file name. I saved it to my laptop, then used the WiFi thing in iFile to upload it to the phone.
