For some reason I have a phantom device stuck in my iCloud account. I can see evidence of this from:

1) OSX's map app. When I send directions from the Map App, I see 3 devices (iPad mini, iPad and then iPhone). This is probably a result of renaming my iPad to iPad mini.

2) When I go on my iPhone and setup SMS forwarding, I see the same 3 devices again.

If I go to icloud.com and look at find my devices, I only see 2 devices.

So how do I remove the old ipad??

Hi, I have exactly the same with my MacBook Air after upgrading ( clean install) to 10.10 Yosemite. Before I was running Lion, my Mac's name was "my name's Air". I saved all data, then made the clean install. Then in 10.10 Yosemite my Mac had suddenly the name "my name's MacBook Air" instead of "my name's Air"... This caused iCloud to show data for two Air's... Why? Should I have logged out of iCloud before the clean install? Should I have deauthorized the Air before upgrading? I can´t see that, since I still login with the same data and accounts...
However, now with 10.10 and iOS8 you are able to swipe from right to left and delete those safari entries. (Note with iOS7 I was not able to swipe to delete.) The same works in 10.10 Safari's iCloud menu.
However, my concern is that somewhere in iCloud still my old Macaccount "my name's Air" is ghosting around and may cause trouble in the future... I may consult genius about this in the coming days, but for now at least the double entries are gone with swiping. Maybe others had this problem before and this is the fix introduced by Apple with 10.10 and iOS8?

Removed the devices, I don't think icloud apps read from that database. I still have 3 devices in my icloud list

Same, same here... I have an iPad, on 7.1.2, and a MBP15 (of which I don't own, it's my friends) listed... And all I did was log in as a guest to it. And yet it is listed in my devices on iCloud.com

Would love to remove or reset the listings.

Tried the above and it made no difference.

Re: appleid.apple.com

You have to look under trusted devices:

Password and Security > Add or Remove Trusted Devices

That might shake things up.

My password and security don't have Trusted devices...

It has

Two-step
Security questions
Select birthdate

Go to iCloud.com and sign in to Find my iPhone.

Click the All Devices dropdown at the top and choose the device you want to remove.

iCloud should fail to locate the device. Then you have the option of Remove from My Account.
