Girlfriend has an iPad that she used for her company. It was tied to an other company she did business with. No longer needed for that service so we’re trying to remove the MDM. There is no remove button under Profiles. I’ve watched some videos that suggested a program that is $40. Don’t know if they are just trying to push the program or if there is a better way.

Any suggestion?

You can't remove it, the owner of the device has to remove the device from their management system.

The only way to remove it that I know of is either for the person controlling MDM to remove it, or to contact Apple which requires proof of purchase and ownership of the device (and even then it's still up to their discretion).

It highly depends on how the enrolment is managed. For some weaker ones, you can just delete the profile or attempt a reset to that iPad and MDM goes away. For others, removing may not even be an option and iPad could even be locked to prevent the reset. Check around settings to see how deep the MDM goes. Best practice imo would be to contact a person in that company to see if they are willing to remove the device. Normally speaking, a competent company IT should regularly Audit their device pool and remove any that is deemed no longer managed by that company.

We tried to do a reset but the profile is still there. The iPad can be used like normal. Her concern is it possibly being locked or reset by them after she has it set up to use a new program. No option to remove it. It sounds like contacting the system admin might be the best bet.
