How to remove RAW pics from iPhoto/Aperture?

Hello guys,

I would like to organise my libraries a bit better and I've noticed that for certain albums I have RAW files that I no longer need. As iPhoto and Aperture is nondestructive I have noticed that it automatically creates JPG files and the raw is there just sitting. Is there an easy and efficient way how to select an album or group of photos and ask the app to remove the RAW files whilst it keeps the JPGs with those tweaks etc?

I think you will find it keeps the raw and then a record of the changes which it applies to the raw at the time you access it. You cant delete the RAW without losing it. The JPG is maybe the original OOC image if you shot RAW+JPEG or it may be the thumbnail preview???

If you really dont want the RAWs anymore, you could export a JPEG of your adjusted image, then delete the image from Aperture/Photos and then reimport the JPEG you just exported thereby swapping a JPEG for the RAW but that will be a lot of time consuming tedious effort.

Really? I thought the RAW is there but the system does under the hood jpg version of it.
Also, when i try clean my mac, it gives me exactly that, it says"rotated,enhanced etc...." and it gives me the option to keep the jpg and delete the RAW but I'm a bit scared to have external app touching photos, as I've heard few stories were people messed up their libraries irreversibly.

Sorry it is a while since I used Aperture to be honest. I may be wrong. Why not take a picture and try it? Either take a trash pic or sacrifice a non-keeper to try it.
