On the lock screen, there’s no option to swipe on notifications anymore. The only way I see to unlock the phone and go right to the notification is to first hold your finger on the home button to unlock it and then tap on it. Seems pretty inefficient. Or am I missing something?

Yeah, I noticed the same thing, although I’m not sure it’s really that inefficient as before you still needed to hold your finger on the home button to unlock the phone. I was just in the habit of doing so second, rather than first.

I can't figure out what in the hell they are doing with notifications. It seems like Apple just hates notifications and wants to make them worse every year. I really like almost every change in iOS 11 except that notifications on the lock screen now do nothing unless they use the rich notifications from last year, and the lock screen in place of the notification center when you swipe down? I mean are you serious with this?

I agree. It’s so confusing to end up back at the lock screen when all you wanted was to see your notifications...

Devices that support 3D Touch should probably be able to make use of that when it comes to lockscreen notification reply options. For non-3D Touch devices tap and hold seems to work in various places, but it might not on the lockscreen. Probably some sort of a glitch or an oversight that's one of those beta 1 things.

As in tap and hold (or long press basically)? What device?

Yes tap and hold. iPhone 6, literally just tried it again with an iMessage 2 secs ago. But yes, i keep catching myself swiping which takes me to the camera instead lol

It also works for the 3D Touch gestures in the Control Center. It seems like Apple is trying to make the transition from old to new easier for users

Yeah, I heard of Control Center supporting long press. Figured it wasn't meant to work similarly on the lock screen, but some in various threads have mentioned that it wasn't working for them, so I wasn't sure if it was a bug of some sort or an oversight or something like that.
