How to restore from backup when getting iPhone 12 Pro with iOS14.1

I’m on the beta for iOS14.2, but Friday the new iPhone 12 Pro’s come out and obviously I want to restore from backup but given that it will ship with iOS14.1, how can I do so without getting an error?

My suggestion is to set it up first. Then download the beta profile. Update to 14.2 then restore from backup. I also subject to encrypt your backup so health data and the line are restored.

If history is anything to go by, Apple will release a beta build of 14.2 for the iPhone 12 & Pro on Thursday. So get that installed, then restore from backup.
