After a recent forced reboot, all the files and folders on my desktop were rendered invisible.

(I should say desktops, since I’ve been using iDesktop, which creates multiple virtual desktops.)

I was able to make them visible again using Terminal, but unfortunately that makes every hidden file visible, and I’m not really interested in seeing all the system files etc.

Anyone know if there’s a way to toggle visible/invisible for individual files and folders?

Thanks in advance!

I think what you're looking for here is this (use terminal):

chflags nohidden /Users/rngee/Downloads/path to file.txt
(chflags hidden to revert)

Works with folders as well.

Many thanks, rngee! (Apologies for the delay--internet was wonky for awhile.)
