By mistake, I clicked on UPDATE NOW option and my ATV is updated much to my disappointment and frustration.

Please help me to revert back if it's even possible.

If not, I need to know how can I hack to be able to play all files like before.

MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is my erstwhile folders still in there (just not visible now)?? I had lots of files after converted over months.

I had the same problem with not being able to use Boxee with the new update. I had to go into settings and do the factory restore which set it back to 2.0 I believe. Once it was back all I had to do was re-hack the apple tv

Your previous OS is gone, but your media files are all still there.

The easiest thing to do is to pull the drive from the ATV, connect it to a Mac, initialize its OSBoot partition (but NOT the Media partition), then do a restore with Disc Utility from the OS of your choice. Put it back in the ATV and you should have it as it was at the last update (sans any hacks).

If he does that, he will lose all of his media files.

Update 1

So I opened it up and connected the ATV HD to my Macbook Pro running Leapord. I managed to copy the SSH files from '/usr/bin/' and '/usr/libexec' to the ATV 'usr' folder as per instructions available at Install SSH with Leopard.

Thankfully, all my files loaded previously are still intact.

Question - What must I do, if anything even after I got SSH working. Are there recent updates to the hack? What is the current best method to run AVIs and DivXs over ATV like with 2.0.1

Update 2

Alright, things are looking better :)

When Apple updated the OS, it deleted all hack files, folders etc. So I followed the same instruction in the link above for installing the SSH again. I downloaded the Darwin ISO and followed the instructions. Over and above this, I also followed steps at Base SSH Install

Next, I reinstalled the ATVFiles v1.2.0. IMPORTANT to follow the steps for 2.1 Apple TV and 2.3 Manual Method. Without the 2.3, which asks to install the Finder item, you won't see the "Files" on the menu of Apple TV 2.3

I also noticed that the Perian was deleted so I installed latest Perian but it seems like Dolby sound does not work yet.

So this is my last task - To get Dolby 6 channel sound. FYI - these files worked with earlier Perian on ATV and they are converted using VisualHub.
