Hi,

I've decided to set up a little website offering Mac tutorial screencasts (free of charge, in HD).

I've just completed the first one - how to rip a DVD on a Mac using MacTheRipper and Handbrake.

I'd appreciate comments and suggestions for other ones.

High definition version

Thanks,

MadDoc,

This was good. I always have people asking me how to do this on a Mac. I'll just send them here from now on. Look forward to see whatever else you come up with.

Thank You. I needed a site like that.

one question though. Is there a reason just not using just Handbrake & ripping to the desktop? Or is Mac the ripper needed?

Thank You

Dave C.

Good job. Very well spoken and easy to learn/watch. I will stay tuned for any more videos you might come up with.

Thanks for all the encouragement :)

@kidwithdimples:

Why do you think the quality sucks?? It's 720p. It looks great on my screen - better than YouTube IMHO.

MadDoc,

Thank you. This is very much appreciated. Too bad I didnt click on this thread before I started my own asking how to use MTR.

MadDoc,

i see what he means the quality sucks on your website, however if you go to the HD part on that visemo site its much better quality.

Very nice, although the video would be better served via quicktime, as my PC does not like sites with unique plugins like the one required to watch it in HD

Couple of suggestions for next video/update
1. Tagging via MetaX (even though it is really strait forward)
2. Blu-Ray conversion (not cheap, but still looks awesome)

If needed I can help write the walk-through.

Valid point - I assumed it was embedded in HD but it looks like Vimeo only allows embedding in SD (apparently this will change in the near future).

I've update my first post to point to the better link.

I may consider switching over to QT.

MadDoc,

its odd how they didn't embed the full quality version.

definitely go QT because the majority of users will be mac users and quicktime is much easier to use and runs better than the other video player.

can i just ask how did you capture the video?? did you use a program like snap pro Z??

Good Job on the video, however it left me still hungry. There was no meat and potatoes, only salad.

Can you go into more detail as to what uops are used for in mactheripper, and what all the features under the advanced section in handbrake are used for?

Give the OP a break, do you have any idea how many pages of documentation it would take to just explain "all the features under the advanced section in handbrake" ? Thats ridiculous imho.
