Just purchased a HDD that I have connected to the Ipad via usb-c. I can see the element drive in files.
But if I try to save a video file to the drive, the save option is greyed out? Any ideas?

I just tried saving to a USB flash drive and it worked fine. So, its the HDD that it saves, but will not allow saving to it

Is the drive formatted as NTFS? If so, on the iPad it is read only. You need something like exFAT for write capability.

THanks for the lead. It was the format, but I had to make updates to get it to work.

Formatting to exFAT via windows did not work, was not even seen.

So, I updated the Ipad to IpadOS18 Beta 2. This allowed me to format the HDD on the Ipad. Did to exFAT,
and not it saves no issue. A little nervous trying the beta, but will now see if other stuff works. It did change stuff around on various user interfaces, which is this is the new standard, guess better to learn the 18 version stuff now
