Apologies in advance for my ignorance,

My wife had an app before which allowed to save YouTube videos to the iphone for later. She uses this extensively to have cartoons for our daughter when at doctor's office, car, etc.

The app she used was removed for the App Store. Does anyone have any idea how to do this now?

Would really save my marriage (kidding). LOL We travel tomorrow and would be a godsend to get this to work!

Current Playerextreme. this is video player but has download function for youtube, is not perfect, but okey.
with happiness Google not report the app, and then Apple not send message, and the developer the function remove.

Please use ipa backup via iTunes. I think in the next time, Google report the app, then must the developer the function remove

There are so many easy ways to do this on a Mac or Windows PC. Just download some before your travel, pull them in your iTunes Library and synchronize it with the phone.

Theoretically you are not allowed to do that (thanks google), but there are ways on Mac to do that and then import to the iPhone

I have found a workaround using the workflow app. Tried it and it seems to work.

Download the workflow app and install this workflow.

Workflow: Powerful Automation Made Simple by DeskConnect, Inc.
https://appsto.re/sg/2IzJ2.i

Next, install this workflow.

“Download YouTube”

https://workflow.is/workflows/387973120bde472b80b9c0f5ab90dd51

Run it when you are in the YouTube browser app, then save the video to your camera roll.

Hope this helps.

I tried for a long long time all sort of apps to download Youtube videos with no luck.

Eventually all of them end up being blocked. So just dont waste your time/money on them.

But this Workflow, was the best thing I ever seen. I still can't believe how easy and smooth the process is. Thanks for the awesome tip!

Quick edit: YouTube Red would still be the best solution for this issue. Unfortunately it only works in the US. So for everybody else, this is the perfect replacement!

I guess I do it old school. Email link to myself and save in YouTube folder within my email client.

If you can use your Mac, Softorino has recently released a free quite well-written app: http://softorino.com/youtube-converter

You should check it out! :)

EDIT: Sorry, missed that:
That one is for Mac, but can convert and transfer directly to iPhone:

The problem is, some people don't wanna depend on a computer to do those tasks. I dont wanna have to use a program inside my computer to download the video and then sync it with iTunes, with something that should take you a couple touches on the screen.

To use this app above, you don't need the iTunes, sync or anything, it bypasses Apple's dumb iTunes way and just put everything straight to the stock Videos app. They also have another app to put any video file from your computer (but it's paid).

But I do get your point. But what YouTube wants is exactly the opposite.
They have been limiting the capabilities of YouTube app for a long time (background player, there are such players in the App Store), and they need to monetize this infinite rubbish bin of videos. That's why the introduced YouTube Red ;)

Those billions of cat videos won't host themselves :p
