I goto System Settings. Then Printers & Scanners. There I don't see anything about a scanner. It is a MFC so it has scanning.

I downloaded the scanner driver thinking it would solve the issue as it may not have been present. That did nothing either.

Does your scanner appear in the Image Capture app? That is where mine is. Image Capture has been in macOS for years, but it looks like (correct me if I am wrong) we now have the option to do OCR as documents are scanned.

No but after the new drivers it does appear. But strange its no longer where it used to be in the system preferences. But IC works, thanks. I forgot about that.

With a Samsung printer/scanner for me it worked to install the ICDM driver. After that, i was able to see it in image capture app.
