I do not own an iPhone (and maybe never will due its
indirect cost through AT&T) and I wonder how feasible
this idea is.

Mobile gadgets are carrying so much personal information
that if you end up losing your iPhone, what is going to happen ?
Headaches...email, contacts, passwords (if you store them), etc.

We all know that fingerprint recognition requires some hardware,
but is it too impossible to come up with some software solution
attached to the slider in order to recognize its user ? You have
to slide to turn the phone on anyway, right ? (and no one wants
to type passwords of any sort everytime)

I put a 4-digit passcode that everytime I turn on the phone from sleep, I have to put in the passcode. Takes about a second to enter in 4 digits... it's not a big deal.

Yeah, I used the passcode lock as well... But took it off after 2 days, its such a pain and added task when trying to do anything on your phone. IMO

I second the password lock. It only takes two seconds to unlock the phone and its much less of a headache than if I lost my iphone and knew the person who finds it could access all my info/media. Take the time to use the password unlock or else you could end up really regretting it.
