On my Macs, in the Shared Albums section, there is an item called "Activity" which shows all additions to the shared albums, all likes, comments etc.

This is not there on my iPad. See screenshots of Mac and iPad.

This article says:

"Note that by default, when you open the Shared section in Photos for iPhone and iPad, you'll be taken to your activity feed for shared albums, which shows things that have been added or comments made".

The details that follow in the article show how to see it on a Mac but not iPad.

Feel I am missing something obvious!

Thanks

That article was dated 5/25/20 before iOS 14 was released in September. This Apple description indicates it's under the For You section:

"The For You tab contains all your Memories, Shared Album activity, and the best moments from your library."

Brilliant....thank you very much!

The ipadOS implementation is not quite as good as the macOS version as it seems the comments are not visible until after selecting a picture. The existence of comments and likes is indicated by a speech bubble icon on the thumbnail. But for my use it has 90% of the functionality.

The iOS implementation is different, no icons on the thumbnails, but some (not all?) of the comments and likes are listed.

Correction. Comments above written after comparing ipadOS in landscape view with iOS in portrait view. ipadOS is very similar to iOS but in landscape view the iOS thumbnails don't have speech bubble icons.
