iPad Pro How to set default screen mode to extended one rather than mirror?

Hi, I am using a M1 iPad Pro 12.9” 2021 with an external display. Whenever I reconnect the two, the external display is set to Mirror by default. I have to manually change it to extended screen mode. Next time I disconnect and reconnect the iPad to the screen, it goes back to Mirror by default. Is there any way to set Extended screen mode to be the default or keep it as is until I change the mode to Mirror manually?

turn on stage manager.

Stage Manager is already on. Unplugged and plugged the monitor back and it went back to Mirror mode.

Yes, I have a keyboard and mouse connected. Latest version 16.5.1

Hey, I’ve just experienced something like this last night. I connected my ipad M1 air to our LG tv and it would extend the display, only mirroring. There wasn’t even a setting option for extended display. it worked fine through a projector and another Tv, all the same set up….any ideas?
