im not sure if this is possible, but I’d like to set up an iMac to view only specific websites.

For example, my daughter is refusing to either go to work or college, so I’d like to block every single website and only allow college or job application websites to be accessible.

Is this possible? Hosts file? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I have openDNS too. I’m not sure if we could create another OpenDNS account for this computer and add sites to that and block everything else?

For what you are wanting to do its going to be a lot more trouble than its worth. yes you can block other websites but that's only going to go with safari. She can bypass that by downloading another browser pretty easily. you can block my IP address but then she can change that and so on. your better off having a talk with her about her future and given that she's the age to work and go to college potentially you could remove her from the household. I know that's hard but it was done to me when I was 18 and I can say that it was a good thing for me in the long run.

If she is living under your roof, I feel it would be beneficial to block internet access for her (change wifi passwords, etc.) altogether and tell her she can have access once she can pay you a small fee for it. The fee amount should be low, and is inconsequential, and can be waved if she is going to college and receiving good grades. The goal is to have her see that she can buy things for herself once she is making money.
