I know that a mac forum might not be the right place for a question about PCs, but I'll post it here, since some of you tech-savy people might be able to help me.
in our appartment, we have set up a home network that is connected to the university dsl network through a router.
the problem is that at Muenster University, we need to log in through a complicated VPN-connection that Panther's VPN panel can't deliver...
this is what I do now:
- I have two computers hooked up to the network (besides my roommate's PCs): a self built PC running XPpro connected through LAN and my tiBook running X 10.3.2 connected through an Airport Extreme basestation. the PC is set up to access the web through said VPN connection, this works fine.
- I currently browse the web on my tiBook by logging on my PC through Microsoft's Remote Desktop Client (so my PC's desktop is displayed in a Window on my tiBook)
to make it short, this sucks! I'd rather have web access on my 'book
so, here comes my question:
- there must be a way to set up the PC to share its web connection to my Airport Extreme basestation, so that I DON'T have to login with VPN (the PC is already doing this...), but how do I have to set up XP?
I have two ethernetcards in that machine, is it possible to share the connection through the second card to my basestation/tiBook, in order that this procedure does not interfere with the appartment's main network (the PC is set up in a closet and is always running anyways)?
I would be very thankful if someone could help me with this, since it's driving me crazy for weeks!!!
thanks
