I want to use a VPN for my mac. I have the setup VPN open, in the internet connect but I don't know what to put for the options.

You need to know the IP address of the VPN server, and your VPN username and password. That's all, assuming that the VPN server works with the OS X VPN setup.

OS X VPN won't work with some VPNs, e.g. for Cisco VPN servers you need the Cisco VPN client.

I happen to have a cisco VPN firewall; and you don't HAVE to use the VPN client. You can change the settings to work with OSX :)
