Hi all,

We have been using an app to track our newborns diaper/sleep/feeding schedule called sprout. My wife and I use this app on our iphone 12's as we can record things on our apple watch, or either of our phones. Also we use a Eufy Security app to keep an eye on the baby with the baby monitors when he is sleeping in the nursery.

With both of us going back to work, my mother and dad are going to help out with the baby at our house. Mom has an iphone and dad uses android. To make life easy, we thought we would get an iPad so we can load up the app to track our kids diaper/sleep/feeding (called sprout social) and the Eufy app so they can keep an eye on him when he's in the crib.

Problem is, i don't want my parents to see all my phone calls, text messages, emails and pictures on the iPad. When searching, I was kind of shocked that there isn't a way to switch accounts on the ipad because i thought i could just create a "guest" account or something.

Is the only way to make a new apple id and have the ipad be linked to that apple id? if so, that kind of sucks because it limits the ipad usefulness for the other things my wife and i were excited to use it for (handoff, replying to texts, clicking on youtube links from texts on the bigger screen, photo editing, etc.).

Appreciate your thoughts and any help you can provide!

Delete the apps you don’t need, then set parental controls for the App Store on that device and only keep the apps you want.
I’d try that approach.

You could look into setting up guided access (accessiblity-guided access). It’s like a kiosk mode. We’re in a similar situation and that’s what we do. However, this only works for one app at a time (I think) - we only use it for our kids baby camera. Worth checking out though to see if it can fit your needs.

Aside from that the best option is another Apple ID specifically for them, to keep all your stuff separate. Shame they don’t offer user accounts, I agree it’s a pita for this type of scenario.
