How to share external firewire drive

I have an external drive connected via firewire to my iMac.
How can I make this drive available on the network so my mbp can use it as well?

I have sharing enabled. I see the iMac's drive, user folders & public folders. I even see the iMac's iDisk, but no external drive....

What am I missing here?
How can I reach this external drive via the network?

Search didn't yield any usable answers.....

With your hard drive on your desktop, right click on the hard drive and under the "label" click "Shared Folder"

Now you'll be able to see your hard drive over the network.

I have the same problem as the OP, only my drive is connect via USB.

I've done what BreuerEditor has suggested above and I still can't see it. Any other suggestions?

Go to Finder > Preferences > General or Sidebar, and make sure that connected servers will show up. Not that this is the problem but sometimes this can be an easy thing to overlook.
Also, when I connected to external HDs on different computers i've had to do it over SMB. (not that that is the only way, i just got lazy and it didn't take to many extra steps for me to set it up)

Thanks for the reply, but still not working. I can get my iMac volume, but the External drive does not show up in "Shared" on the sidebar. The "Shared folder" box is checked when I do a Get Info on the External drive.

I downloaded and installed Sharepoint last night. I browsed for the EXTERNAL drive and when I select ADD, Sharepoint crashes. I tried several times with the same results.

Is Sharepoint compatible with Snow Leopard?

Just for reference I'll detail how I have an external drive setup for sharing on my network. On the computer that is connected to the drive: Under system prefs > sharing > File Sharing I selected the + under shared folders and selected my drive that i'm sharing. I went to options and shared files and folders with SMB and AFP make sure the SMB user accounts are ones you can remember. After I have that all setup then I go to the computer i'm trying to connect with and manually connect to the server (in finder that's under Go > connect to server) in my case the IP is smb://10.0.1.6 and hit enter that immediately pops up the volumes that I can connect to and I select my external drive. (In my networked situation SMB works best but AFP should work also) You can find the IP address for the computer you're connected to on the file sharing screen.

Thanks Blake. I did what you posted above, but I can only see my MacHD volume that is on my desktop. The external hard drive volume does not pop up. Weird.

Check System Requirements

Up to now, SharePoints is compatible for 10.4, 10.3, down to 10.1.

There is no mention of Leopard, nor Snow Leopard.

Have you tried accessing SharePoint via "preference pane". To access SharePoint "preference pane", go to System Preferences>Other to look for SharePoint after doing the installation.

However, I have not tried this. Moreover, there is no mention of external hard disk sharing.

There were some reports that SharePoint may not be stable in Leopard (and therefore Snow Leopard).

Please share with us your findings when you have achieved it.
