How to share files with friends via iCloud?

Searched a few pages of this forum for an answer. Did not immediately see anything. If I missed previous conversation, my apologies in advance.

Been using iCloud for the past month across my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone. Seems to be working very well at synching all my data.

What I want to do is upload files and share it with a friend in Japan who also has a Mac and iCloud.

How do I do it?

First, I don't even know where on my computer I have the ability to open an iCloud drive and upload to it. Then, even if that is possible, how to set it up to share with another Mac user.

I have Dropbox, and I thought it would by as easy as using that, but for the moment I don't know where to begin. Dropbox only has 2GB data availability compared to 5GB on iCloud.

So, basically need instructions how to upload files to iCloud and set it up so that I can share a specific folder with another person -- if this is all possible.

Well, I am going to answer my own question.

Seems you can't do it. This isn't like iDisk. Very sad.

However, I found SugarSync which gives you a free 5GB account to share files with. Going to give that a try.

As far as I know, you're right in that you can't use iCloud to share files.

I have Dropbox, and I thought it would by as easy as using that, but for the moment I don't know where to begin. Dropbox only has 2GB data availability compared to 5GB on iCloud.

It's simple with Dropbox: copy the file(s) to the public folder within your Dropbox folder on your computer; right click, copy public URL, send your friend the URL and voila -- he can download the files you gave him the links to. Or you can upload the files through the DropBox website.

DropBox is just about as flexible as iCloud in terms of device support, as I have it on my MacBook and my iPhone and sync mainly photos seamlessly.

Ah, okay. I thought by saying "I don't know where to begin" you were implying that you didn't know how to do what you're asking to do. Sorry!
