What's the best way to ship an iMac? I may be conducting a trade soon, and have never shipped anything but a laptop, so I want to play it safe.

Is it better to ship via one service instead of the other? How should I package the computer?

Personally I had a good experience taking in my computer to a UPS store and paying a little extra for them to package and ship it... I mailed a laptop and computer this way no problems thus far.

I would say the original packaging would be the absolute best method. You might check with a local Mac retailer to see if they have an empty one hiding in the back. ;)

Mine was shipped by USPS in the original packaging and it weathered very well (the packaging is in perfectly fine condition for me to continue using it for moves, and I have even done so since then).
