Hi,
does anybody know how to show or not show the movie controls on a .mov within dreamweaver. You know, the ones that appear at the bottom of the movie (play/pause, timeline etc). Some of our files have the controls and some do not.
Much appreciated,

Tony

That's Apple's QuickTime player, so here is a page with all possible optional commands you can include in your embed tag - set CONTROLLER=FALSE or KIOSKMODE=true for limited controls.

Here's a page discussing controlling the embedded QT plugin, similar to SWFObject and Flash if you've messed around with that. This technique allows you to control the player and it's features via JavaScript - and you may also add custom controls on your web page outside the player, if you wish. Very cool stuff.

Please note QuickTime is not universally supported as much as Flash (98% of browsers give or take) so informally I also suggest you consider software such as Moyea or others to convert the MOV to SWF. Now you have full control over buttons, layout, skin support, links, thumbnail image creation, audio, framerate, look and feel of the player buttons and actions, etc. - and you simply embed the single .swf or optionally use the SWFObject JS method for controlling the player in your web page. Or generate an FLV and use your favorite Flash player if you want. Flash is very popular these days for this specific purpose.
