No one I talk to seems to even know how they display their Focus Mode. Ie, I'd like my friends who are texting me to know I'm "busy" or driving, etc. But how the heck do I do that? I have a 2020 SE on iOS 15. Anyone have a clue? I know this isn't a new feature bc I had a friend with this years back...

Mmm, maybe turn off that setting, give it 30 seconds for apples servers to kick in and then turn it on again? In my opinion this is probably another one of Apple’s new features that just does not work correctly anymore… Par for the course with Apple these days. They can’t programme for ****!

I also do not see it when I test it sending a message from my work phone to my private phone but somehow it works with some friends. Either way, it is somewhat useless without actually showing which Focus it is. There is a difference between "sleeping" (and therefore not expecting an answer for hours) and "work" when the answer just may take longer.

Guess here, as have not got/sent texts while in Focus from friends/family, could also be affected by settings under People and Apps. Ie. If a person is in the People list, they might not get the notification as you are allowing them to break through the Focus. Ditto apps (eg. Messages) allowing people to break through.

And wrt SMS and or non-iOS users, don't think they will see that. From what I've seen documented and lack of anyone specifically stating otherwise, it seems to be for iOS only.
