Hi there,

I’m looking to get the $200 credit from T-Mobile and I’m not seeing a way to add the plan referenced in the promo text. It says I need a 10GB plan - none of the prepaid plans are this and when I go to add a tablet plan to my post paid phone account it only offers me the Magenta tablet plan. Is there some secret place I need to go to do this when I get the new iPad Pro? Maybe this will require a phone call? Will this plan be cancellable after I get my $200 virtual credit card?

Thanks!!

Hey! the link posted above for "prepaid" plans are for phone plans. the tablet plans are here

10gb is $30 a month

As for the promotion, T-Mobile almost never gives credits via gift cards unless its a "port-in" promotion, so more than likely the $200 will be split over 24 months resulting in a $8.33 credit every month for 2 years, if you cancel before then they will stop giving you the credits.

EDIT: after further reading the $200 card is given by APPLE not T-Mobile, so yes you would receive a card and yes you can cancel the line after getting the card.

"How do I get it?

Buy an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular directly from Apple (pay in full or pay monthly with Apple Card Monthly Installments). Within 30 days of placing your order, activate an eligible 10GB (or larger) data plan with T-Mobile/Sprint and complete the promotional application at promotions.t-mobile.com."

YES you can use the "Magenta Data" Plan for the promo as that plan is unlimited data which is more than 10 GBs

Yea I would for sure want confirmation on that - since I think I saw somewhere (not offered on my account without calling) but a $30/month 10GB plan. I think that is what they are requiring for the card - would be amazing if the Magenta worked instead!

Just curios, has anyone had luck with the magenta $20 plan? Or do we need the $30/month 10gb plan from T-Mobile for the gift card?

I followed it by the book - for this to work I assume 10GB means that - unlimited I don’t think counts but maybe a TMobile rep can speak differently

I'm with T-Mobile and I have a post paid $30 data line on my account. I suspended the line because I always use a grandfathered original prepaid AT&T unlimited data plan for iPad.

I ordered both the 11" and 12.9" iPad Pro on EIP by clicking upgrade on my data line. I was told they would be locked to T-Mobile until they are paid off. Not true. They both are unlocked and I can use the AT&T SIM in either. I'll use the T-Mobile SIM in the 11" and the AT&T SIM in the 12.9".

You guys make me want to get an new iPad with LTE. I am playing around with the monthly costs here for the 200 dollar discount. We have two lines for the iPhones with TMO already, but it looks like it will cost either 60 bucks or 20 bucks a month to add another line with at least 10GB (in my case it is unlimited data). So worst case scenario I have to use it for two months before I get the 200 dollars? Do I understand this correctly? Any info you guys can share will be greatly appreciated! Honestly, I do plan to cancel this after I get the discount.

Thanks in advance!

Yes this is my understanding - you wouldn’t need to order a SIM card, but when you get your new iPad you can activate on device in the settings app and then apply for the promo - I did this all on day 1 without any issues and my understanding is yes at most I’ll be out $60 before I get my $200 virtual credit card that I need to use within 6 months.

Also note lower end models that are a $130 upgrade for cell also have this $200 promotion! So an iPad Air, mini or regular you’d be up an additional $70!

Thank you for your help. I am going to get my LTE version on the 11th and I will activate the plan accordingly.

Unfortunately it's not letting me add a line directly on the iPad since I am a legacy Sprint customer. When I go to "add a line" and enter my phone number (which is technically still Sprint), it errors out.

Are you still in the Sprint network? Or have you swapped out your SIM already to the T-Mobile version.

Can I use a SIM card? Dont want to forever have my esim on T-Mobile network should I choose not to stay with them. Just because.

You can easily add and delete data plans on eSIM via Settings - Cellular.

Normally, I use eSIM for my main US carrier and reserve the physical SIM slot for local SIM during travel. The global plans are expensive compared to the plans one can get locally and eSIM support can be quite iffy in other countries.

I’m an existing T-Mobile phone customer and got the 5G iPad Pro. Applied for the promotion by adding a line directly from the iPad. Got my $200 prepaid card within a week and suspended the line - T-mobile credited unused days from the $30 plan. Essentially as if I got the 5G version for free!

That’s awesome!! Still waiting on mine - it arrived as an email I’m guessing?

Still waiting on mine. Got confirmation from both Tmobile and Apple that the $20 Magenta Tablet plan was approved for the promotion.

Thought once use the esim to a carrier it is locked to that carrier and cannot use for another. ??

Were you a new T-Mobile customer when you just signed up your iPad for service?

That was with the old Apple SIM. Hasn't done that since Apple Embedded SIM in iPad Pro 9.7.
The only exception to that is if you purchase the iPad on contract with ATT Next its locked to ATT, It can be unlocked but you have to use a Sim card. ESIM is disabled on them.
