How to speed up fans in Windows?

When my first X1900XT overheated due to extended periods of video gameplay, apple sent me what they called "Revision 2" of the card, and claimed that it won't overheat the same way the first one did.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, i've always cranked up my computers fans from 500rpm to 1500rpm to play graphically demanding games such as Doom 3 or Quake 4.

I'm going to be buying Call of Duty 4 shortly, and running it in Vista, and i'd like to crank up the computers fans when I play it. I use smc fan control to crank them up in Mac OS X. What's the simplest way to crank them up in Windows?

I am pretty sure ATITool will allow for fan control on the X1900 series in XP so I'd start there.

What about controlling all the other fans in the computer? smc fan control doesn't actually speed up the fan of the video card, it just speeds up all the main fans in the computer, causing an increased level of air circulation inside. The CPU Fan, Rear Fan, and PCIe/HDD fan. Those three fans are what I need speeded up.

Well you can just use SMC fan control for that.... but I dont see why you would. If the video card was the overheating item (which has its own fan), then it would be more effective to increase the fan speed on that. By default ATI leaves the fan speed very low. Even at 80C, I think the fan speed is something like 50% or less.
