How to SSH Correctly?

Hi, I know how to SSH and all, but all i know how to do is put files on there, i cant get like applications and stuff to appear on my iPhone. is there i file i need to put the app in, or make a new file then put the app in or something? can somebody give me a link or an explanation please, because id like to start customizing if i could understand this a bit more. thanks in advance!

You use commands to install and remove programs thru SSH.

If you're installing .deb packages, put them in tmp (or any folder, tmp is easier) and use the command:

dpkg -i /tmp/packagename.deb

Then respring.

Otherwise, use Google like dhliz said. Most everything you want to do can be find with a little searching.
