I loaded a new program on my IMAC (BBEDIT) which works great for what I need. However when ever I boot up it loads automatically. How to I find the folder that has the Start up programs in it?

Check in System Preferences, then Users & Groups, then Login Items. You can remove that item from there.

Another method would be to launch BBEdit, then right-click on the BBEdit icon in the dock.
Choose Options, then click on Open at Login to remove the checkmark.

Many apps don't need to use Login Items, but it's a good place to start.
