I have used iTunes and Apple Music for a while. I have subscribed to Apple Music for myself and the family on a couple of occasions. After Christmas I decided I would like to try living just with my local library for a while. It is mostly ok, but I think today is the third time I get an ad for Apple Music while playing my own music on the Mac.

The ad looks like a system alert and is unsettling. There used to be a setting to turn off Apple Music, but it seems to be gone now. Is there a way to opt out of Apple Music and the annoying ads?

Here's a screenshot of an ad. I'm not sure if the content is static or evolving.

You can try with a configuration profile, it might work on macOS without the Supervised requirement.
“allowMusicService If false, disables the Music service, and the Music app reverts to classic mode. Requires a supervised device. Available in iOS 9.3 and later, and macOS 10.12 and later.”

Configuration profiles can be created with:

Does unchecking 'Show: Apple Music' in the Music Settings General tab not work?
