How To Stop Apple News and Apple Maps from Opening on Reboot?

This is driving me crazy! I often have to reboot my M1 MacMini to get my stereo HomePod Mini's to synchronize with videos. The problem is every time I reboot bot Apple News and Apple Maps open. I have found no solution under System/User even though a search suggested I could stop the auto loading under my User account.

Anyone else with this issue, or solutions?

Did you check System Preferences/Users and Groups/your user id/login items?

If these items are not in login items, then not sure what else it could be...

Yes, Login Items are blank. Unlocked User/Me. Same, blank. Weird huh?

Sounds like "reopen previous windows" box was checked at some point in the past (and maybe still).

Reboot in safe mode (hold shift key until Apple shows) to clear that out.
