How to stop Apple TV remote from controlling my Mini?

Is there a way to stop the remote from my Apple TV from changing the volume on my Mac Mini? I really don't need to have the remote to have any access to the computer.

Go to System Preferences --> Security & Privacy --> Advanced and check Disable remote control infrared receiver.

The other option is to pair the remote to the Apple TV, the Mac will then ignore it. (I have an Apple TV and an iMac in the same room, each one has a remote paired to it.)
