feel like this might be an issue because i have 'reduce motion' selected? often, when i am in the News app, if i move my phone, or sometimes just touch the screen, the app flies back to the first story... and i have to scroll (seemingly) forever to get back to where i was.

do others experience this? is there way to stop that behavior? and/or....? thx

Are you accidentally tapping the top of the screen, which triggers the scroll to top action? That’s the only reason it should be scrolling to the top. Good apps will allow you to top the top again to scroll back down in the case of an accidental scroll to top. Unfortunately, News isn’t one. But you should be able to drag the scroll bar to more quickly scroll down than swiping repeatedly. If it has to load all the stories again, then the app is refreshing rather than scrolling to the top, which is a different issue.

It has been a while but I think I’ve experienced situations where, after reading a lengthy article, the News app seems to have had a refresh timer go off, thus forcing a reload of the main page (and therefore forcing me back to the top). I recall this being a real irritant to me, and one that helped turn me off to the app (along with ads even with a subscription). 🤷‍♂️
