Hello…. Me, wife and child share a third party email for our app store purchases. We all have different icloud accounts. Is it still best to do it this way or set up family sharing?

We have a ton of purchases tied to the third party and I also dont want to lose any data tied to my icloud…. any suggestions?

I tried changing third party to my icloud email but it wouldnt let me do it.

Apple support was no help.

Thanks!

This is the way my wife and I do it. Started before Family Sharing was a thing and kept doing it as some apps don’t support sharing. Only problem has been a merged Books collection. I have to wade through her books and vice versa.

Thanks, but I think we are ready to switch. Getting too confusing with music, books etc.

Anyone else switch over? If so, any suggestions?

I was in your shoes once. What we ended up doing was add the shared AppleID as a third member of our family, with us using our primary AppleID for everything else.

Thanks all… we made the switch. Pain signing in and out of every device and service and getting it synced again. Only issue was I didnt realiize we wouldnt be able to share our itunes match library.
