there is a good chance that this is a dumb question, and i'm aware of that, but i can't seem to find an answer.

when i use to start a new project in xCode 3, the project-type-select window looked different than the one i get now (which is attached). previously, the types of projects were displayed with icons in a window with a sidebar, etc. the window i get now is the same window as it was with xCode 2...

how do i switch it back?

That there is the project settings from XCode3. The one with icons is from the beta SDK.

beta SDK? what do you mean? this is the window i'm talking about (scanned from my book)

[EDIT] oh nevermind, i think i know what you mean... the window i'm receiving is the normal xCode3 window, but if i had installed the iPhone SDK beta than i would get a new window (attached) when starting a new project...
